Jackie Chan expresses dislike for 'Rush Hour' success

Jackie Chan has expressed a long-standing dislike for the 1998 film "Rush Hour," despite it being one of his most significant commercial successes in the US and Europe. Chan has stated that unlike his other projects, where he feels he has something to contribute, "Rush Hour" lacked a personal reason for him to participate beyond the financial compensation.

Chan's dissatisfaction stems from the film's American stylistic approach, which prioritizes dialogue and drama over the extended fight sequences characteristic of his Hong Kong productions. He also noted difficulties with his English and understanding co-star Chris Tucker during filming.

While Chan participated in two sequels, reports indicate that a fourth installment has faced delays, with some sources suggesting Chan requested higher compensation for his involvement.
