Jackie Sherrill to receive Paul “Bear” Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award

Former football coach Jackie Sherrill has been selected to receive the 2027 Paul “Bear” Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The award recognizes outstanding career accomplishments both on and off the field. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 27, in Houston, Texas.

Sherrill’s coaching career includes significant tenures at both Texas A&M and Mississippi State. During his time at Texas A&M, he led the program to three consecutive Southwest Conference championships from 1985 to 1987. At Mississippi State, he achieved 75 victories, the most in the program's history, and led the Bulldogs to an SEC Western Division title in 1998.

The Bear Bryant Awards are presented annually by the American Heart Association to celebrate coaching excellence and to raise funds for cardiovascular health research and awareness.
