Jackie Shroff celebrates 25 years of the film Lajja

Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff marked the 25th anniversary of the film ‘Lajja’ on August 31. To celebrate the milestone, Shroff shared a video montage on social media featuring stills from the 2001 Rajkumar Santoshi directorial.

Released in 2001, ‘Lajja’ features an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit, Rekha, Mahima Chaudhry, Anil Kapoor, and Ajay Devgn. The film explores societal issues such as patriarchy, domestic abuse, dowry, and violence against women through the interconnected stories of four female protagonists.

The narrative follows Vaidehi, played by Koirala, as she flees an abusive marriage to return to India. During her journey, she encounters three other women—Maithili, Janki, and Ramdulaari—each facing different manifestations of patriarchal oppression.
