Jackie Shroff honors music composer Salil Chowdhury

Actor Jackie Shroff paid tribute to legendary music composer Salil Chowdhury on the anniversary of his death. Sharing a black-and-white photograph of Chowdhury playing the piano on social media, Shroff referred to him as a ‘musical legend’.

Chowdhury, who passed away on September 5, 1995, was a multi-talented artist known as a composer, songwriter, lyricist, poet, and writer. His musical career spanned 13 languages, including Hindi, Bengali, and Malayalam. He was also skilled in playing the flute, piano, and esraj.

His notable works include the soundtrack for Bimal Roy’s ‘Madhumati’ (1958), as well as compositions for films such as ‘Do Bigha Zamin’, ‘Parakh’, ‘Chhaya’, ‘Kabuliwala’, ‘Anand’, and ‘Chhoti Si Baat’. Throughout his career, he collaborated with prominent playback singers including Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, and Asha Bhosle.
