Jackie the Bald Eagle's Health Deteriorates at Ojai Raptor Center

Jackie, a rehabilitating bald eagle from Big Bear Valley, has seen her anemia worsen, with packed cell volume dropping to 13%. Veterinarians at the Ojai Raptor Center responded with advanced diagnostics, including a contrast CT scan and a bone‑marrow biopsy, and placed her in supplemental‑oxygen care while awaiting lab results.

Friends of Big Bear Valley reported that the eaglets Sandy and Luna, raised by Jackie and the adult male Shadow, have likely left the valley to begin their wild lives. With the eaglets gone, Shadow is described as being on a summer “vacation,” and the organization urged supporters not to contact the rehabilitation center while the veterinary team continues treatment.
