Jacksepticeye faces backlash over Charlie Kirk comments

YouTuber and streamer Seán McLoughlin, known as Jacksepticeye, is facing backlash following a viral clip in which he made comments regarding the late Charlie Kirk. During a gameplay stream of the horror game Moldrise, McLoughlin compared a non-playable character to Kirk and asked, “You look like Charlie Kirk. You want to get Kirk’d?”

The phrase “get Kirk’d” has emerged as internet slang following Kirk’s death at a Utah campus. The clip, which circulated widely on X, led to significant criticism from netizens. Some users labeled the remarks as vile, while others pointed to McLoughlin’s past sensitivity regarding memes about his own father’s passing.

Streamer xQc weighed in on the controversy, arguing that creators cannot selectively choose which jokes are acceptable. He suggested that if people were to treat all jokes equally, many would be considered poor quality, emphasizing that one cannot pick and choose which topics are off-limits.
