Denmark economy outlook upgraded with 3.7% GDP growth projected
The Danish government has significantly upgraded its economic outlook, projecting a GDP growth of 3.7 percent this year. This revision follows a previous estimate of 2.7 percent. Key drivers for this growth include strong pharmaceutical exports, specifically linked to Novo Nordisk, and high employment levels. Statistics Denmark reports that 3,091,300 people were in paid work in June, an increase of 34,400 compared to the previous year.
Inflation is expected to remain stable and stay below 2 percent for both this year and next. Regarding social welfare, the Ministry of Finance announced that state pensions will rise in 2027. Due to a 2.6 percent rate adjustment and the abolition of the rate adjustment pool, a single pensioner with a full supplement could receive more than 200,000 DKK annually.
While the economic indicators are positive, industry organizations like TEKNIQ suggest that the government should utilize the fiscal space to invest in technology, production, and defense industry to ensure long-term competitiveness and security.
