Jackson Martínez scores in comeback match for Independiente Medellín

Jackson Martínez returned to professional football after a six-year hiatus, scoring a decisive goal for Independiente Medellín in their 2-1 victory over Alianza FC. The 40-year-old striker, who has not played an official match since 2020 due to a chronic ankle injury, entered the game in the 56th minute.

After Alianza FC took an early lead via a Yair Murillo own goal, Daniel Cataño equalized for Medellín before halftime. Following a red card for Diego Moreno that left Medellín with ten men, Martínez secured the win in the 87th minute by converting a rebound after a shot hit the post. The victory brings Medellín to 26 points, placing them close to qualification.
