Jackson parking lot crash kills infant; unlicensed driver charged

An 8-month-old boy, identified as Yitzchok Rosenberg, died after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the NPGS kosher supermarket in Jackson, New Jersey. The incident occurred around 11:55 a.m. on Friday when a Ford Fusion sedan struck a mother and her two children as they were in the parking area.

The mother and her five-year-old daughter were also injured and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where they were reported to be in stable condition. The infant was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer stated that the driver, 20-year-old Maria CobonGuzman of Trenton, had never been issued a valid driver's license. CobonGuzman has been charged with manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and two counts of assault by auto. The owner of the vehicle, 22-year-old Ariadna Lazaro-Flores of Toms River, was also charged with knowingly engaging in conduct creating a substantial risk of death after allegedly allowing the unlicensed driver to operate the car. Both individuals are being held at the Ocean County Jail.
