Jackson Township, New Jersey Hate Crime Investigation After Antisemitic Vandalism at Bais Medrash Govoah
Police in Ocean County, New Jersey are investigating a series of antisemitic incidents after vandals broke into the new Jackson Township campus of Bais Medrash Govoah. The break‑in caused extensive property damage and hateful messages were scrawled on classroom chalkboards. Surveillance footage identified seven youths who entered the building, and authorities are treating the act as a hate crime.
Separate vandalism incidents also targeted Chai Lifeline, a nonprofit that supports children and families facing serious illness. Jackson Township Council President Mordy Burnstein said, “I had thought that we lived in America in 2026, that things like this shouldn’t be occurring anymore.” Police Chief Mary Nelson said patrols have been increased around the affected sites and that charges will be pursued regardless of the suspects’ age. No arrests have been announced yet, and investigators believe the individuals responsible for the two sets of attacks are not the same.
