Jacksonville City Council approves San Jose housing development

The Jacksonville City Council has approved the rezoning of the former Kings Trail Elementary site in San Jose to facilitate a new residential development. In a 17-0 vote, the council cleared the way for Dream Finders Homes to proceed with a project consisting of 110 residential cottages or townhomes on the 12.41-acre property.

The decision follows months of community efforts to influence the development's impact. The San Jose Neighborhood Association had previously advocated for changes regarding traffic management and the preservation of local wetlands and tree canopies. While the developer has presented the project as single-family homes, there has been discussion regarding the potential for the community to cater to residents aged 55 and older.
