Jacksonville Jaguars defeat New Orleans Saints 24-20 in preseason opener

The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the New Orleans Saints 24-20 in their preseason opener at the Caesars Superdome. The game featured significant contributions from backup and rookie players as most starters did not play.

The Saints started strong with an 86-yard kickoff return by Ty Chandler, which set up a 9-yard touchdown run by Audric Estime. Despite a halftime lead of 20-6 and defensive highlights including an interception by Jaylan Ford and four total sacks, the Saints were shut out in the second half as third- and fourth-string players took the field.

For the Jaguars, Zach Wilson completed 11 of 16 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown, finding rookie tight end Oscar Delp for a one-yard score. The Jaguars' victory was secured following a late scoring drive that overcame the Saints' early momentum.
