Jacksonville Jaguars elevate QB Nick Mullens for Week 1

The Jacksonville Jaguars have elevated quarterback Nick Mullens from the practice squad to the active roster for their Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Mullens, 31, is expected to serve as the primary backup to Trevor Lawrence. The decision comes as the team seeks stability in its depth chart; while the Jaguars acquired Quinn Ewers in the preseason to serve as the second-string quarterback, Ewers has only been with the team for two weeks and is not yet fully integrated into the system.

Mullens previously served as the backup in Jacksonville during the 2025 season and is familiar with the offensive system under Liam Coen. This move represents the first of three potential practice squad elevations allowed for Mullens this season.
