Jacksonville Jaguars partner with Sentrycs for drone defense

The Jacksonville Jaguars have become the first NFL team to publicly announce a partnership with drone defense company Sentrycs, owned by Ondas. The system is designed to monitor and secure the airspace around EverBank Stadium during game days.

The technology utilizes radar, thermal sensors, cameras, and radio signals to detect unauthorized drones. Once a threat is identified, the system can intercept the communication link between the operator and the drone, allowing security to take control and land the vehicle safely. It can also locate the pilot via radio frequency to assist law enforcement.

This move follows a period of increasing drone activity near sports venues. The NFL reported 10,852 drone violations near stadiums between 2021 and 2025. While most did not disrupt play, incidents such as a 2025 playoff game in Baltimore between the Ravens and Steelers were paused due to drone presence. In response to these trends, the NFL and Major League Baseball have requested additional resources from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to protect fans and players.
