Jacksonville Jaguars training camp sees roster competition and injuries

The Jacksonville Jaguars are entering the final stages of training camp with several key developments regarding roster competition and player health.

In the backfield, running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. has emerged as a significant figure in the team’s rotation. The coaching staff is exploring tactical flexibility, including the use of “pony” packages that feature two receiving-capable backs. This shift aligns with a broader move toward multiple tight-end sets rather than the heavy jumbo packages used in previous seasons.

On defense, star player Travis Hunter has shown strong performance during full-pads practices. While he continues to play a role on offense, recent sessions have seen him focus heavily on cornerback duties, where he has demonstrated high-level coverage skills.

However, the team is facing mounting injury concerns. Running back LeQuint Allen Jr. is currently considered week-to-week, while offensive lineman Wyatt Milum is day-to-day. Additionally, safety Parker Washington is expected to miss the remainder of the week due to injury.
