Jacob Chase draws on personal fears of parenthood for new horror film
Director and screenwriter Jacob Chase has revealed that the sixth installment of the horror franchise, titled ‘La Noche del Demonio: Están Entre Nosotros’, is deeply rooted in his personal anxieties regarding parenthood.
Chase stated that the film's concept emerged while his wife was pregnant, as he grappled with the profound fear of becoming a father and the responsibility of protecting a child. The narrative follows a protagonist named Gemma, who faces supernatural forces from ‘The Further’ that threaten her family.
Beyond the supernatural elements, the film explores the psychological terror of being unable to protect loved ones and the fear of repeating generational traumas. Chase intended for the supernatural threats to serve as extreme representations of the everyday anxiety of losing control and the vulnerability inherent in raising a child.
