Jacob Fowler sets Montreal Canadiens record in shutout win

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jacob Fowler set a franchise record during a 1-0 shootout victory against the Detroit Red Wings at Centre Bell. The 21-year-old stopped all 30 shots during regulation and overtime, and subsequently blocked all six attempts in the shootout.

Fowler became the first goaltender in the history of the Montreal Canadiens to record a shutout while remaining perfect through a shootout. Recalled from the Laval Rocket due to an injury to Samuel Montembeault, Fowler has now earned consecutive starts following a solid performance against the Nashville Predators.

Head coach Martin St-Louis praised the performance, noting that Fowler proved the decision to start him was correct. Defenseman Kaiden Guhle also commented on the confidence Fowler’s calm presence provides to the team.
