Jacob Markström returns to Florida Panthers as primary goaltender

Jacob Markström has returned to the Florida Panthers to begin his second stint with the team. The 36-year-old goaltender was acquired via a summer trade with New Jersey in exchange for Evan Rodrigues and Jesper Boqvist.

Markström is expected to take over as the primary goaltender following Sergei Bobrovsky’s departure to Toronto. Panthers general manager Bill Zito described Markström as an established veteran leader with a relentless drive to win.

The move reunites Markström with longtime teammate Aleksander Barkov. Markström previously played 12 games with Barkov in 2013 before being traded to Vancouver.
