Jacob Misiorowski sets MLB postseason velocity record
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski set a new MLB postseason velocity record during Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. His opening pitch to Fernando Tatis Jr. was clocked at 104.8 mph, surpassing the previous record of 104.5 mph held by Mason Miller. His second pitch reached 104.6 mph, also breaking the prior record.
Despite the historic speed, Misiorowski was limited to four innings of work. The Padres utilized a high number of foul balls—hitting 30 fouls on 88 pitches—to extend at-bats and exhaust the Brewers' ace. Misiorowski finished the night with six strikeouts, allowing four hits and two runs, but received no decision in the contest.
Misiorowski’s performance follows a dominant regular season where he led the majors in ERA (1.80), strikeouts (252), and opponent batting average (.157). During this postseason start, 52 of his 88 pitches reached at least 100 mph.
