Jacob Misiorowski's Early-Season Dominance Highlighted as Rookie Walbert Ureña Beats Him
Milwaukee Brewers right‑hander Jacob Misiorowski has posted an extraordinary start to the 2026 season, recording an earned‑run average below 1.70 and more than 190 strikeouts through his first 21 starts. This performance makes him only the second pitcher in major‑league history to achieve such numbers, joining Dominican legend Pedro Martínez's 2000 campaign.
In a recent matchup at Angel Stadium, 22‑year‑old Dominican rookie Walbert Ureña of the Los Angeles Angels threw six scoreless innings, allowing three hits, three walks and striking out seven to lead the Angels to a 3‑0 victory over the Brewers. The win improved Ureña’s record to 7‑7 with a 2.54 ERA, the best among rookies with at least 50 innings pitched this year, and underscored his rapid rise since joining the rotation in April.
