Jacomar expands supermarket network with new store in São José dos Pinhais
The Jacomar supermarket chain is celebrating its upcoming 60th anniversary in 2026 by expanding its operations in the Curitiba metropolitan area. The company is set to inaugurate its 21st store in the Borda do Campo neighborhood of São José dos Pinhais on Tuesday, the 15th.
The new facility covers approximately 4,700 square meters of built area, including 1,600 square meters of sales space. It features 18 service points, including 14 conventional checkouts and four self-checkouts, along with a bakery, butcher shop, and gourmet space. The expansion is expected to generate approximately 130 new jobs.
Founded in 1966 by Jacob and Maria Pankratz as a small grocery store in the Boqueirão neighborhood, the group has grown to include 20 existing stores, three gas stations, and a distribution center. The company currently employs over 3,000 people, with a notable demographic trend where more than 20% of its workforce is aged 50 or older.
