Jacqueline Kornmüller releases new novel ‘Die Frau im Schrank’

Jacqueline Kornmüller, a Vienna-based theater professional and successful author, has released her new novel, ‘Die Frau im Schrank’. The narrative centers on the developing love story between a narrator and a reclusive, bookish actor.

The plot weaves together mysterious elements, including a portrait by Baroque painter Ginevra Cantofoli located in a Greek refuge and the imagery of a woman found inside a self-opening cabinet. The story explores the partner's childhood and uses unconventional literary devices, such as the use of the pronoun ‘Du’ (you) in the third person instead of a name, and the inclusion of archaic recipes as narrative counterpoints.

While the author has previously found success with ‘Das Haus verlassen’ and ‘6 aus 49’, this new work continues her exploration of interpersonal connections and complex character histories.
