Jacquemain Shabani announces commission to resolve Kasaï-Central customary conflicts

Jacquemain Shabani, the Vice-Prime Minister of the Interior, has announced the establishment of a commission to resolve customary power conflicts in Kasaï-Central. The commission is tasked with examining disputes regarding traditional leadership and legitimacy, which have become significant security concerns in the province.

This initiative aims to resolve succession conflicts before the official designation of customary chiefs through government decrees. The announcement followed a meeting of the expanded Provincial Security Committee, which also addressed the issue of illegal barriers in the region. The Vice-Prime Minister has committed to enforcing decisions made by the committee to improve territorial governance and security.
