Jacques Moretti detained for alleged domestic violence

Jacques Moretti, co-owner of the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, has been placed in pre-trial detention following allegations of domestic violence against his wife and business partner, Jessica Moretti. The alleged assault occurred during the night of August 11 to 12 at the couple's residence in the Valais canton. Reports indicate the violence was severe enough to require Jessica Moretti's hospitalization.

This legal matter is a separate proceeding from the ongoing criminal investigation into the fatal New Year's Eve fire at Le Constellation, which resulted in 41 deaths and 115 injuries. In that case, both Jacques and Jessica Moretti are among 16 individuals under investigation for charges including manslaughter and arson by negligence.

Defense lawyers for the couple stated that the new allegations pertain ‘exclusively to their private life’ and should not be conflated with the Constellation tragedy, though they noted the couple has faced intense hardship since January 1.
