Jacques Rougeau’s AEW Tribute Video Dispute Over AI and Copyright

Pro wrestling legend Jacques Rougeau produced a tribute video for the Rougeau Wrestling Dynasty Celebration segment of AEW’s Redemption pre‑show in Montreal. AEW declined to air the video, citing several issues: the inclusion of AI‑generated footage, the video’s length, lack of rights to the music used, and copyrighted clips – notably a segment showing Rougeau pinning WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, which WWE owns.

The refusal sparked a backstage confrontation, with reports that Rougeau threw a tantrum and was warned he might be asked to leave the arena. AEW President and CEO Tony Khan, who opposes AI content, confirmed the decision was based on the legal and policy concerns. The dispute was later resolved, and Rougeau posted the full video on Facebook after the event.
