Jaden Hicks fined by NFL for hit on Daniel Jones

The NFL has fined Kansas City Chiefs safety Jaden Hicks $6,707 for a roughing-the-passer penalty during a Week 2 game against the Indianapolis Colts. The penalty occurred in the first quarter when Hicks made contact with Colts quarterback Daniel Jones, resulting in a hit to the head and neck area.

The infraction occurred during an Indianapolis scoring drive that eventually led to a touchdown. While the hit resulted in a penalty and a first down for the Colts, the Kansas City Chiefs ultimately won the game 33-30 in overtime.

Hicks’ fine is notably lower than the league’s standard first-offense rate for hitting a quarterback, which is listed at $17,911 under the 2026 fine schedule. This marks the second fine of Hicks’ career, following a $5,151 taunting penalty during the 2024 season.
