Jadranka Matković criticizes low pension after six euro increase

Croatian actress Jadranka Matković, known for her role as Rebeka Palisander in the series “Nad lipom 35”, has spoken out about the financial challenges she faces in retirement. Currently living in a home for the elderly and infirm in Zagreb, Matković reported that her recent pension increase amounted to only approximately six euros.

She described the small increase as humiliating following a long career in the arts. Matković highlighted the difficult situation of independent artists, noting that many retired artists receive meager pensions that barely cover basic living costs. She expressed that while she follows political and social debates regarding retiree rights, she no longer has the strength to constantly fight against such systemic issues.

Matković also reflected on past professional decisions, noting that her history of working as an external collaborator rather than having permanent employment contributed to her current financial status. Despite health issues affecting her mobility, she remains mentally active, following cultural developments and recently participating in a Dutch co-production titled “De Camino”.
