Jadrolinija cancels international voyages for Dalmacija ferry
The Croatian shipping company Jadrolinija has announced that its largest vessel, the Dalmacija, will suspend all international voyages due to technical difficulties until January 5, 2027.
This suspension follows a series of mechanical issues experienced by the ship. In August, a serious engine failure forced the vessel out of service, disrupting maritime connections between Croatia and Italy, specifically affecting routes to Ancona and Bari. Subsequent technical problems led to a brief suspension in September, which has now been extended through the end of the year.
Jadrolinija has apologized for the inconvenience and stated that passengers who have already purchased tickets will be entitled to compensation in accordance with EU Regulation No. 1177/2010 regarding passenger rights in maritime transport.
The Dalmacija joined the Jadrolinija fleet in 2024 after being purchased for 18 million euros. Originally built in 1993 in Norway, the vessel has a capacity of approximately 1,800 passengers and 350 vehicles.
