Jadrolinija suspends Croatia-Italy ferry lines due to engine failure

The ferry ‘Dalmacija’, the largest vessel in the Jadrolinija fleet, has experienced a serious engine failure, leading to the indefinite suspension of ferry lines between Croatia and Italy. The technical issue was discovered in Dubrovnik, preventing the vessel from departing last weekend.

As a result, Jadrolinija has cancelled upcoming voyages on routes connecting Split and Dubrovnik to the Italian cities of Ancona and Bari. These routes are considered vital for tourism and the economy of the Dalmatia region and parts of neighboring Herzegovina.

Jadrolinija has issued an apology to passengers and stated that refunds for cancelled trips will be provided in accordance with EU Regulation No. 1177/2010. The company is working to restore the vessel to service as soon as possible and is attempting to offer alternative transport options. While the company confirmed the technical problem, it has not provided specific details regarding the nature of the engine failure or a definitive timeline for repairs.
