Jaecoo 8 SHS battery unveiled; Volkswagen launches full‑hybrid Golf and T‑Roc

The Jaecoo 8 SHS electric vehicle is equipped with a CATL M3P 34.5 kWh battery designed for extreme protection. The pack can withstand temperatures up to 1,300 °C, is IP68‑rated for water immersion, tolerates 10‑ton mechanical loads and disconnects power within 2 ms after impact. It powers a 428 CV hybrid system, delivering up to 134 km of pure electric range and more than 1,000 km total range.

Volkswagen has introduced full‑hybrid versions of its Golf and T‑Roc models, featuring a 1.5 TSI evo2 gasoline engine paired with a 1.6 kWh rear‑mounted battery and three driving modes (electric‑only, series, parallel). The combined output is 170 CV and 309 Nm, achieving a certified fuel consumption of 4.6 l/100 km for the Golf. Pre‑sales began in Germany with prices around €41,400–€44,470, and the models are slated to reach Spanish showrooms in the coming months.
