Jaecoo launches plug‑in hybrid models with over 1,000 km range and beats WLTP claims

Plug‑in hybrid models from the Jaecoo and Omoda brands demonstrated real‑world ranges that exceeded their official WLTP figures. The Jaecoo 7SHS‑P covered 828 miles on a full charge and fuel tank, surpassing its claimed 745‑mile range, while the Omoda 7 reached 770 miles against a 700‑mile claim. Both vehicles are powered by Chery International’s Super Hybrid system, which pairs a 1.5‑litre petrol engine with an 18.3 kWh battery, delivering 204 PS and an electric‑only WLTP range of 56 miles. The tests were run at Millbrook Proving Ground by efficiency drivers Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke during the Fleet News Company Car in Action event. Gary Lan, CEO of Omoda & Jaecoo UK, highlighted the achievement as proof of intelligent engineering and sustainability.

Jaecoo’s newest flagship, the 8 SHS‑P, combines a 315 kW (428 hp) Super Hybrid powertrain with a 3‑motor setup, achieving 0‑100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. Its electric‑only WLTP range is 135 km, and the combined gasoline‑electric range exceeds 1,000 km, with an average fuel consumption of 2.1 L per 100 km. The model also offers Vehicle‑to‑Load (V2L) capability, delivering up to 6.6 kW for external devices. In Poland, the Jaecoo 7 Hybrid is rated at 224 hp, consumes 5.3 L per 100 km, accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and tops out at 180 km/h.
