Jaecoo J5 EV launches in Malaysia and the Philippines with strong sales and range performance

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia announced that official bookings for the J5 EV, its first fully electric SUV, are now open. The model is priced from RM125,000 and follows the brand's rise to the fifth‑best‑selling automotive marque in Malaysia, backed by more than 32,000 vehicle deliveries nationwide and about 2,500 J5 units shipped within four months of its March 2026 launch.

In the Philippines, Omoda Jaecoo Philippines carried out an endurance test in which a single J5 EV logged 539.2 km—roughly 17 % beyond the NEDC‑rated 461 km range—showcasing the vehicle’s efficiency and battery stability. The J5 EV is equipped with a 204 hp (150 kW) electric motor, accelerates 0‑100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and supports DC fast charging that reaches 80 % in about 28 minutes. The car’s Philippine launch is scheduled for 22 July, with a retail price of around PHP 1,399,000 and extended warranty coverage for up to 7 years/200,000 km for the vehicle and 8 years/160,000 km for the battery and motor.
