Jaecoo launches new hybrid and electric SUV models in Australia and Malaysia

Jaecoo, a brand under the Chery group, has expanded its presence in the hybrid and electric vehicle markets with new model launches in Australia and Malaysia.

In Australia, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV AWD has been introduced. This plug-in hybrid SUV features a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine paired with a dual-motor electric system, producing a total system output of 354 horsepower and 490 Nm of torque. The vehicle utilizes a dedicated single-speed hybrid transmission (DHT) and is expected to arrive at Australian dealerships in September.

In Malaysia, Omoda | Jaecoo has launched the Jaecoo J5 EV, the brand’s first all-electric model in the country. Locally assembled (CKD) in Shah Alam, the B-segment SUV is powered by a 58.9-kWh LFP battery from CATL, offering a WLTP range of up to 402 km. The single-motor front-wheel-drive model produces 211 PS and 288 Nm of torque, supporting DC fast charging from 30% to 80% in 28 minutes.
