JAF and Tokyo Police conduct joint disaster response training

The Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) held a joint training session with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department at the JAF Central Training Center in Tama, Tokyo. The exercise focused on enhancing cooperation between police and road service teams during natural disasters, specifically simulating scenarios involving floods and road inundation.

Participants included members of the JAF Road Service Special Support Team and the newly established disaster response team, JAF-FAST (JAF-First Action Support Team). The training involved two specific patterns: rescuing a driver trapped in an overturned vehicle and clearing abandoned vehicles to secure emergency traffic routes.

JAF-FAST members practiced rapid situational assessment, including checking vehicle characteristics and oil leaks, to support subsequent rescue units. The Special Support Team performed technical tasks such as stabilizing overturned cars and using wreckers to clear debris from essential roadways.
