Jagannath Temple in Kanpur remains a mystery as roof leaks before rain
An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath in Behta village, located near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, remains a subject of local mystery. According to local belief, water droplets begin to leak from the temple roof approximately seven days before the onset of rain, even when there are no signs of rainfall in the surrounding area.
Despite various surveys and investigations by archaeologists and scientists, the exact cause of this phenomenon remains unexplained. While the temple underwent significant renovation around the 11th century, the mechanism behind the roof leaking in anticipation of rain has not been scientifically identified.
The region is also home to the ancient brick temple in Bhitargaon, dating back to the Gupta period (5th-6th century), which is noted for its intricate terracotta panels and historical importance to Indian temple architecture.
