Jagannath University student alleges kidnapping attempt by RAB impersonators

A student from Jagannath University, Momtaz Ara Borsha, alleged an attempted kidnapping at her residence in Kaltabazar, Old Dhaka, by individuals impersonating members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

During a press conference, Borsha claimed the incident was an act of revenge by her sister’s former brother-in-law, Sumon Mia, who she alleges previously worked in the RAB IT section. She stated that the individuals arrived early in the morning, failed to produce identification or warrants, and attempted to take her into a vehicle.

University faculty and the proctorial team intervened during the incident. According to university officials, the individuals initially claimed they were at the wrong location before stating they were searching for a suspect in a theft case. The student was released after professors insisted that any legal action must follow proper procedures and involve university administration.
