Guwahati man arrested for brutal murder of wife

A brutal murder has been reported in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati, Assam, where a 25-year-old woman, Riya Talukdar Goswami, was killed by her husband, Ramanujan Goswami. The crime was discovered after neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from their apartment.

Upon entering the residence, police discovered the victim's body and found her severed head inside a black polythene bag kept in a refrigerator. Investigators also noted that the victim's fingers had been cut off. The suspect, an Uber driver, initially fled the scene but later surrendered to the police.

Preliminary investigations suggest the murder may have been motivated by disputes regarding an alleged extramarital relationship or domestic arguments. Police recovered a weapon and liquor bottles from the crime scene. The victim, a boutique worker, had been married to the suspect for approximately six months.
