JAGDA Kyoto hosts collaborative tenugui exhibition
The Japan Graphic Design Association (JAGDA) Kyoto district is hosting the ‘Noryo Tenugui Exhibition’ at Gallery Fujimoto in Gion, Kyoto. The exhibition features hand-dyed tenugui (traditional Japanese towels) created through a collaborative workshop between professional designers from JAGDA Kyoto and design students from Kyoto University of the Arts, Kyoto University of Advanced Science, and Kyoto Seika University.
During the workshop held in August 2026, participants used silk-screen printing with dye inks on sarashi fabric to produce colorful, pop-style designs intended to evoke a sense of refreshment from the summer heat. The exhibition is scheduled to run from September 20 to September 27, 2026, at Gallery Fujimoto, a venue formerly serving as an okiya (geisha house).
