Jagex announces new RuneScape MMO and animated series

At the annual RuneFest, Jagex announced major expansions for the RuneScape franchise, including the development of a new MMORPG currently referred to as ‘RS4’. This upcoming title will be built using the Unreal Engine and will be set in the world of Gielinor during its sixth age, following the events of RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Jagex clarified that this new game is not intended to replace existing titles like RuneScape or Old School RuneScape, both of which will continue to receive support.

In addition to the new game, Jagex is developing an animated series based on the franchise. The project is a collaboration between Jagex, Lyrical Animation, and Meatier Productions, the production banner of streamer Charlie ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White. While specific plot details are currently unavailable, the series aims to bring the lore of Gielinor to a broader audience. Further information regarding the animated series is expected to be released in 2027.

Furthermore, the company announced ‘RuneScape Reignited’, which is scheduled for release on December 2.
