Jagex reports RuneScape: Dragonwilds sells 1.3 M copies and heads to Nintendo Switch 2

Jagex announced that its new survival‑crafting game RuneScape: Dragonwilds has sold more than 1.3 million copies in early access, far surpassing the company’s original forecast of 200,000. The title moved 600,000 units in its first two weeks, with strong sales driven by the Chinese market, challenging the team’s expectations that the game would perform better in Western regions.

CEO Jon Bellamy also revealed that Dragonwilds will launch on consoles for the first time, targeting the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. He cited internal estimates that roughly 12 million Switch users have a history with RuneScape, and said the console release marks a strategic shift for the studio toward broader platforms.

The announcements highlight both unexpected commercial success and a new direction in distribution for the long‑running RuneScape franchise.
