Jagmohan Meena resigns as Bhubaneswar DCP
The Indian government has officially accepted the resignation of Jagmohan Meena, a 2013-batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, who served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Bhubaneswar. The resignation, which Meena originally tendered citing personal reasons, is effective from September 11, 2026.
Meena’s departure has prompted discussions regarding the selection of a successor to lead the capital city’s police force. The appointment is considered urgent due to the upcoming festive season, including Durga Puja, which requires heightened security and crime prevention measures. The state administration faces the challenge of managing law and order amidst a recent increase in street crimes such as theft and extortion.
