Jaguar and cub sighted in San Pedro del Paraná

The National Police of Paraguay confirmed reports of a wild feline, appearing to be a jaguar and its cub, in the 8 de Diciembre settlement within the San Pedro del Paraná district. The sighting occurred on Saturday, September 5, around 08:00.

Upon receiving reports from local residents, police officers arrived at a mechanized plot in the area. The animals fled into a forested zone that connects to the Tebicuary River and San Rafael National Park. Due to the animals' movement, specific details regarding the specimens could not be fully captured.

The report has been forwarded to the head of the San Rafael National Park area at the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES) for necessary procedures. The jaguar is a protected and endangered species in Paraguay, and authorities are working to confirm the species and implement protection measures.
