Jaguar attempts attack on dog in Rio Preto da Eva, Brazil

On Tuesday morning (28th) a jaguar entered a rural property in the Ramal do Tubira area of Rio Preto da Eva, Amazonas, Brazil, captured on a security camera. The animal approached a sleeping dog, which woke and barked, causing the jaguar to retreat. A second dog fled into the house.

Municipal Environment Secretary Martinelli Gonçalves da Costa confirmed that jaguars and other felines are occasionally recorded in the municipality, especially in zones ZF4 and Ramal do Tubira, but attacks on humans are rare. Residents are advised to keep distance, avoid approaching wildlife, and contact environmental authorities if sightings occur.
