Jaguar Encanto reappears on camera traps in Costa Rica

A jaguar known as Encanto has been detected by camera traps in Costa Rica after a three-year absence from records. The sighting occurred in the Osa Peninsula and the Talamanca Mountains.

Conservationists from the Las Oncas Foundation use approximately 35 camera traps to monitor large felids in these regions. Because each jaguar possesses a unique pattern of spots, researchers can identify specific individuals and track their life histories over long periods. The reappearance of Encanto provides valuable data for ongoing wildlife monitoring efforts in these habitats.
