Jaguar Land Rover outlines next‑gen Range Rover Velar EV and hybrid debut

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) plans to launch a replacement for the Range Rover Velar within the next six months, marking the first model built on the company's new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). Although EMA was originally designed as a pure‑electric platform, JLR now says it will also accommodate a full hybrid powertrain, with the electric version arriving first and a hybrid variant to follow later.

The new SUV features a lower, sleek silhouette with coupe‑inspired lines, a steeply raked tailgate and a rear deck that may replace the traditional glass window with a digital camera system. Spy images show an 800‑volt electrical architecture capable of ultra‑fast charging (up to 300 kW) and a projected battery pack around 110 kWh on a roughly 4.8‑metre‑long body. JLR positions the model to compete with premium electric crossovers such as the BMW iX3, Mercedes‑Benz GLC EV and Volvo EX60, and it will sit alongside forthcoming models including the Range Rover Electric, Jaguar Type 01 and a Defender Sport that will also offer electric and hybrid versions.
