Jaguar pushes ahead with electric luxury Type 01 sedan and 1,000‑hp GT concept

Jaguar is preparing its first fully electric ultra‑luxury sedan, Type 01, originally unveiled as the Type 00 concept. The model is aimed at rivals such as Bentley and Rolls‑Royce and is scheduled for an official debut later this year.

Ex‑design chief Ian Callum criticized the concept, calling it “brutal but lacking beauty” and warned that the electric powertrain may limit appeal among traditional super‑car buyers who value engine sound and performance.

At the same time, Jaguar is developing a four‑door GT that will use three electric motors to produce more than 1,000 hp and 1,300 Nm of torque. The car will feature advanced torque‑vectoring and software that responds within a millisecond, reflecting the brand’s effort to blend its heritage with cutting‑edge electrification.
