Jaguar shifts to all-electric luxury strategy
Jaguar is undergoing a complete strategic overhaul to transition into an exclusively electric luxury brand. According to Jaguar Director Roudon Glover, the company’s previous business model failed to provide sufficient growth or profitability, particularly when competing against established German premium brands like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi.
The rebranding involves moving away from more accessible premium models—such as the XE, XF, XJ, F-Type, and E-Pace—to focus on a smaller number of highly exclusive, high-priced vehicles. This shift aims to attract wealthier customers seeking unique, high-end luxury.
As part of this new direction, the brand has introduced the Type 01 model. While the initial sedan version of Type 01 has faced polarizing design critiques regarding its proportions, new design renders suggest that an SUV variant may better suit the brand’s new ‘Exuberant Modernism’ design language, offering a more cohesive silhouette.
