Jaguar to Unveil Type 01 Electric GT in New York This October

Jaguar Land Rover announced that the production version of its Type 01 electric grand tourer will be unveiled at a "very special" event in New York City in October 2026. The four‑door GT will be powered by a tri‑motor electric drivetrain delivering roughly 986 hp and 1 300 Nm of torque, paired with a 120 kWh battery that promises about 400 miles (EPA) of range. Standard 23‑inch wheels, front‑fender charging ports and an extensive camera‑based visibility system are also detailed.

The launch marks Jaguar’s complete shift away from internal‑combustion models, as the brand discontinued its gasoline line‑up to focus solely on electric vehicles. Executives, including Chief Growth Officer Lennard Hoornik, said the company is targeting a niche, high‑end market rather than volume sales, stating, "If you have a great proposition and a great emotion, then the numbers will follow." Pricing is expected to start above $130,000, with deliveries slated for the following year. The debut follows a year‑long production pause while Jaguar retooled its facilities for the new EV platform.
