Jaguar Type 01 electric GT unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Jaguar showcased its all‑electric Type 01 grand‑tourer prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, still covered in camouflage that will be removed before the world premiere in New York this October. The British GT carries a 735 kW (1 000 hp) electric powertrain with three motors delivering 1 300 Nm of torque, powered by a 120 kWh battery capable of 350 kW fast‑charging and an estimated range of up to 692 km.

The 5.2‑metre‑long vehicle weighs more than 2.5 tonnes and features a low, wide stance, large wheels and a distinctive rear design lacking a conventional grille. Inside, Jaguar plans a premium digital cockpit with a three‑spoke steering wheel and curved displays, targeting a price between US$130,000‑150,000 to compete with high‑end luxury EVs. The prototype makes no artificial external sound, though a synthetic V8‑style system remains a possibility.

Jaguar positions the Type 01 as its first model from the Jaguar Electric Architecture, signaling a clean break from previous XJ and XF models and aiming to place the brand in the upper‑luxury electric segment alongside Porsche, Bentley and Rolls‑Royce.
