Jahmyr Gibbs expected to maintain heavy workload for Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs recorded 186 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns during a 31-30 overtime victory against the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. Despite his performance, the NFL named D’Andre Swift as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Defensive standout Aidan Hutchinson also missed out on individual honors after recording two sacks and 10 quarterback pressures in the same game.

Following his career-high 34 touches in the opening game, reports indicate the Lions intend to maintain a heavy workload for Gibbs in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Dan Campbell expressed confidence in Gibbs' ability to handle the volume, even on a short week. The team's reliance on Gibbs is heightened following the departure of David Montgomery and injuries to backup options.
